Bringing the house to the beach (that’s what it feels like!)
I try to be a minimalist but let’s face it, sometimes you just gotta bring some added fun to the sand. As my daughter gets older I have noticed the amount of items in our beach gear has multiplied. Seriously, where is all this stuff coming from? We started out with a sand bucket and now we seem to have collected sports equipment. Summer gear in this house is a basket of fun and all part of the beach lifestyle we love.
Volleyball, paddle boards, frisbee, typically one or sometimes all those things end up in a beach bag. My advice is to make sure you have a beach bag that is made for the sand. Leave your gorgeous ones at home and bring something functional that will drain the sand otherwise you’ll find sand from your car through your house.
After many failed attempts trying to persuade my daughter to leave the sports stuff at home and just grab a bag and go, it hit me, there will be a day when I’ll be begging my daughter to mother-daughter beach days full of games, shell collecting and more.
I must admit, I now love the paddle board set because the constant running after a tiny paddle ball is a great workout. Think of your beach time as hitting the gym too…great calf workout! Even moms need to join in on the family fun and make it work for them!
Our beach games don’t last long because my daughter is like me and before I know it, we’re both too busy searching for sea glass and shells. My tip for you all is to go with the flow. Embrace that beach lifestyle and fill your days with summer fun, summer gear and all the beautiful memories.
What’s in your beach bag?
