What is your vision?
I love the idea of starting each year with a blank slate and carving out time to think about the future. To compliment my post about discovering your passions, I am inviting you all to give yourself time and space to create a plan of action for yourself by setting intentions for the year. What does this year mean to you? Where do you want to be on December 31, 2018? Can you see it?
Create a Vision Board
I used to frown when asked to make a vision board in school and at church retreats, it seemed like a waste of time. A few years ago while on a women’s retreat I was once again hit with the vision board activity. I quickly tore through magazines and started slapping picture perfect images on my paper but that finished board was eye opening. My dreams, my passions, my future was right there in front of me. I had mapped it out without overthinking or planning. I loved what was jumping off the board. This was the start to my blueprint to create the lifestyle I wanted for my family.
There are absolutely no rules to creating your vision board. If anyone tells you different, don’t listen. You do you and create your vision! Grab some magazines and do not overthink the process. Just tear through the magazine pulling out all the images that speak to you. Pictures and words that light that inner spark. Colors that you’re drawn to you, everything and anything that brings you joy.
Your Environment and Timing are Key
It may seem like a lot of effort and silly to create a space to create a vision board and set your intentions but this is what helps me. To get in the right head space, I turn my living room into a mini spa retreat. Eucalyptus and frankincense fill my diffuser and I start to tune out the noise and mess that surround me. Removing distractions can really open your mind to the process and allow your creative juices to flow freely. Try to give yourself the time and space to be inspired.
If you’re like me, it’s easy to talk yourself out of something before you’ve even started. Once you open your mind to seeing your future you’ll be surprised how everything else just naturally flows. I am a firm believer now that you can create your space and fill it with love.
I would love to hear your experience in setting your intentions, creating vision boards or other projects that fill your soul.
Very interesting article. The engraved stones are available for purchase? Do you where can I purchase them?
Thank you! The stones were a gift from a friend but I’m sure you can find similar ones online for purchase.
