Commitment to Ocean Conservation
My heart is one with the ocean. I find peace and comfort with each moment spent by the water. It’s a place I turn to when I need a recharge or a reason to celebrate. Now it’s my time to give back to my paradise to protect it for my daughter and future generations. Please join me and make the commitment to ocean conservation.
Restoring our waters
Through this blog I have shared my parenting adventures and love for the ocean and beach life. I have always been drawn to the ocean and want to dig deeper by learning how my family can restore our waters. I’ve created a new page dedicated to ocean awareness and will update it regularly as I learn more about ways we can all help protect the ocean and marine life.
Here are a few simple ways to start protecting our oceans with your family.
- Turn a beach outing into a day of learning about ways to help stop pollution.
- Research local organizations for ocean awareness and conservation volunteer projects and programs.
- Participate in beach cleanups and projects targeted at pollution. Don’t have a local program? Turn your family day into a beach cleanup outing.
There are so many ways to start conversation and the key is to just start…get moving and take action to help the oceans.
Educate your children
My daughter’s favorite bedtime book features the many creatures under the sea. Without even realizing it I have instilled awareness and conservation steps into my daughter’s daily life. As we read her favorite ocean book each night, she oohs and awes at the gorgeous images. I take a moment to read the description along with ways to help our marine friends healthy and strong in the sea.
I’ve spent the greater part of the year focused on changing my relationship and mindset with money with the end goal of financial freedom. It dawned on me recently that my favorite activity is one of the least expensive forms of enjoyment. Aside from gas and occasional parking fees and snack bags, my beach outings are free. My love for the ocean has sparked a deeper connection in me to do what I can to protect this sacred beauty for all.
What are some of the ways you care for the ocean? Are you part of ocean conversation efforts in your community? I’d love to unite our efforts to build the way for cleaner, safer waters for all.
