I took the plunge, I tried resisting but I jumped on the essential oil bandwagon!
My oil journey had a rocky start after stocking up on lavender oil at a health food store after a friend recommended using this to help me sleep better. Drops of lavender oil on my pillow resulted in a night of sneezing versus sleeping. Major fail for sleep and my wallet!
What was in the little bottles that got people so excited? Clearly, I was missing something because aside from the failed attempt with lavender oil, I knew nothing about the world of essential oils.
Fast forward to last summer standing in a long drugstore line clutching my head with one hand while the other scrolled through Facebook posts like a crazy woman trying to distract myself. One magical little line jumped off the screen at me and forever changed my perception of essential oils.
With headaches coming on stronger than ever, I was willing to try anything. A few days later peppermint oil was in my mailbox and my love for oils was born. And yes, peppermint does feel like an ice pack on your forehead.
What makes my oil story a bit different from others you may have heard, I am still learning, I am still in disbelief that a little bottle of essential oil can have such an impact on my mind, body and soul. I may even be a wee bit skeptical at the therapeutic elements in each bottle. With each new oil I try, I have yet to be disappointed.
I have made two lifelong friends the past year – yoga and essential oils. A day does not go by that doesn’t include these two and while I may not understand the full essence of both, I know they make my life better.
I am a total newbie when it comes to oils but I wish I had known some things early on such as the quality level of oils. I assumed all oils were created equal and when a label stated lavender oil it was really just lavender. If I had chosen 100% pure therapeutic-grade essential oils the lavender fail may have been avoided and I would’ve been benefiting from oils much sooner. I’m here to share some little nuggets I’ve learned about bringing oils into the home and will share my wellness journey here.
Ask me anything! Oh, and do share your experience with oils, what works for you, what didn’t, etc.
